Our Great Privilege

The great privilege and mission of Calvary Bible Church is to glorify God and extend His Kingdom by living and proclaiming His truth in the world.

We Believe

We believe that the Old Testament and New Testament scriptures are the inspired Word of God and are without error in the original writings. We believe that this inspiration extends to every word and every part of the Scriptures and that they are the supreme and final authority in faith and life. John 17:17, Galatians 3:16, II Timothy 3:16-17, II Peter 1:18-21

We believe that there is only one God, who created all things out of nothing, eternally existing in three equal persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, each having precisely the same nature, attributes, and perfection. Genesis 1:1, Matthew 28:19-20, John 1:1-2, Acts 5:3-4, Colossians 2:9

We believe that Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God and second person of the Godhead, added humanity to His deity when He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He is therefore fully God and fully man. We believe that Jesus Christ, being without sin, died on the cross as the substitute for sinful humanity, was buried and His crucified body was raised from the dead. His death is sufficient both to satisfy the justice of an offended God, and to reconcile sinners to Him. Luke 1:35; Romans 9:5; I Corinthians 15:1-3; Philippians 2:6-11; Colossians 1:15-17; 2:9

We believe that He ascended into heaven to appear before the Father as our High Priest, Advocate, and Mediator.  Hebrews 4:15; 9:24, I Timothy 2:5, I Peter 1:3; 2:24; 3:18, I John 2:2

We believe that the Holy Spirit came in a special sense on the Day of Pentecost. In this age the Holy Spirit carries out the ministries of restraining evil in the world, convicting people of sin, righteousness, and judgment, regenerating and indwelling all believers, baptizing them into the body of Christ; sealing them unto the day of redemption; and empowering them for sanctification and service. Other gifts were temporary and were given in the Apostolic Age for the purpose of founding the Church. These include the gifts of apostleship, prophecy, miracles, healings, tongues and the interpretation of tongues. At the same time, we affirm that God performs miracles as he wills. John 14:16-17; 16:7-15, Romans 8:9, I Corinthians 6:19; 12:13, 28-30, Ephesians 2:20-22; 4:1-16,30, Hebrews 2:1-4, Titus 3:5

We believe that  Satan is a created being with real personality, that he was instrumental in the fall, and that he will be eternally punished. Genesis 3:1-10; Job 1:17, Revelation 20:10

We believe God created male and female in His image and that Adam sinned and thereby incurred the judgment on both the physical and spiritual death which is eternal separation from God. All human beings, with the exception of Christ Jesus, are born with a sin nature, are accountable for their sin, and need to be born again. Genesis 1:1,26; Psalm 51:5; Jeremiah 17:9; John 3:3-7; Romans 3:10-12, 5:12; Ephesians 2:1-10; I John1:8-10

We believe that salvation was accomplished solely by the finished work of Christ shedding His blood upon the cross, and that no work on the part of any person can merit this salvation. Whoever believes solely in the finished work of Jesus Christ receives the new birth, becomes a partaker of the divine nature, and becomes a child of God, once for all, forever. John 3:16; 6:37; 10:27-30, II Corinthians 5:14, Ephesians 2:8-9, I Timothy 2:3-6, I Peter 1:18-19 & 23, II Peter 1:3-4.

We believe the Church universal was inaugurated by the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and consists of all those who have trusted Jesus Christ for salvation. We believe that the local church is a body of believers in Christ who are joined together under scriptural (Elder-Led) leadership for the worship of God, for the making of disciples, for edification through the Word of God, for prayer, for fellowship, for the proclamation of the Gospel, and for the observance of the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Matthew 16:16-18; 28:18-20, Acts 1:4-5; 2:42-47; 11:15-16; Romans 12:5; Ephesians 1:20-23; Philippians 1:1; I Corinthians 12:13; I Timothy 3:15

We believe also that marriage is between one man and one woman. Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4-6; Mark 10:6-9; Ephesians 5:25-31; 1Corinthians 6:9-11; Romans 1:18-32

We believe in the imminent return of Jesus Christ to rapture the Church Age Saints, followed by the tribulation period, and the visible return of Jesus Christ with His saints for His millennial reign on earth. We also believe in the bodily resurrection of the just, and the unjust, and in the judgment and everlasting conscious punishment of the lost. Luke 16:19-26; John 11:25; I Corinthians 15:51-57; I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Rev 20:1-15, 21:1-8

We believe in the Biblical concept of Separation from personal sin. Every Believer in the Lord Jesus Christ is responsible before God for his or her own conscious and deliberate separation for any known sin. This practice is commonly called Sanctification and this is an ongoing state of reality in the life of a Saint of God. We do not believe in the “Sinless perfection” which teaches attainment of sinlessness in this life. We are to be constantly dealing with sin in the inner man on a daily basis. Romans 6, 12:1-2, 12:9-21, 1 Corinthians 5:10-11, Galatians 5:13-26, Ephesians 4:17 – 5:21, Titus 3:1-8, James 1:21, 1 Peter 2:1-3, 1 John 1:8-10

Here We Stand

here we stand.png

Sola Scriptura (Scripture alone) The Bible is the sole written divine revelation and alone can bind the conscience of believers absolutely.

Sola Fide (Faith alone) Justification is by faith alone. The merit of Christ imputed to us by faith is the sole ground of our acceptance by God, by which our sins are remitted.

Solus Christus (Christ alone) Christ is the only mediator through whose work we are redeemed.

Sola Gratia (Grace alone) Our salvation rests solely on the work of God’s grace for us and in us.

Soli Deo Gloria To God alone belongs the glory.

Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, to the glory of God alone, based on Scripture alone.
